HOW IT ALL BEGAN

George Lignos was born in a musical family in Athens, Greece.

​

He holds a BA (Bachelor of Arts) and graduate diplomas in Music Technology, Audio Engineering,

Music Theory, Counterpoint, Fuge and Harmony. 

​

He has studied musicology, history of music, arrangement, classical and jazz piano, flute, trumpet, drums, orchestral percussions,  music theory, songwriting, music technology, audio engineering and spent more than twenty years in pop/rock bands, choirs, military marching bands and symphonic orchestras.

​

He is a co-founder and member of Ellinikes Fones. Brisbane's first Greek choir. He is executive producer,

event and production manager, band director and the main accompanist of the choir.

​

George teaches Music and Audio at JMC Academy, Australia's leading creative universities.

​Experience

​

George has released with his bands 10 full albums, and he has participated in dozens of recordings as a producer, session musician and mix engineer. In addition, he has given more than 1.200 concerts in many major music festivals, venues, clubs, and T.V. and Radio programs all over Europe, Australia, and the USA, including the Jazz Hall of Fame, in Alabama, and performing as a support act on the European "The Damage Control" tour with Soto in 2013.

* Floks became the first-ever non-African-American band to play in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

The group was presented with the Key to the City of Birmingham and Governor Bob Riley designated

August 29, 2003, as “The Floks Music Tour Day”. Floks was also a support act for Delirious?

in 2004 - Omonia Square (Olympic Games Festival).

 

​He has shared the stage with great musicians such as:

Jeff Scott Soto (Soto/Sons Of Apollo/Talisman/Journey/ Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Sakis Rouvas, Notis Sfakianakis, Lakis Papadopoulos, Christos Dantis, Thodoris Marantinis(Onirama), Nikos Ziogalas, Arleta, Marlain Angelides and many other famous Greek artists.

​George was the Musical Director for the Free Evangelical Church in his home town ​and Band Leader

at the Word Of Faith WOFICC Church in Athens. (2010-2017)

​

He is a member of the Citipointe Worship Creative - Brisbane campus, Australia.

​

More than 12 years of experience in education.

George teaches modern piano, keyboards, sound synthesis, mixing,  music production, improvisation, music theory, music history, band ensembles and music technology. 

​

George is responsible for the administration of the teaching program at the Anagennisi Conservatory.​

 

George also provides career advice to students.
